GREAT LAKES – The National Museum of the American Sailors will commemorate African-American History month.
At 10 a.m. Feb. 7, Naval Station Great Lakes Physical Security Spc. Rob Atkinson will speak about the experiences of African Americans stationed at Naval Station Great Lakes and the contributions these sailors made to the military base.
This lecture will be followed by a short Q&A session.
After the lecture, there also will be a brief tour of the museum’s exhibit, “Diversity in the U.S. Navy: Reflecting Change in America” exhibit.
The museum is at 2531 Sheridan Road and is adjacent to Gate 1 at Naval Station Great Lakes.
