What I have learned from my father, more than anything, is loyalty and caring. He was an elementary school principal and spent long hours at work, but when we needed him, he was always there. If I had an event growing up, from Little League to varsity sports, he was there, whether it was at home or on the road. In my adult life, that same holds true.
To this day, when I need help or simply someone to talk with, he’s always there and it’s clear that he cares. We don’t always see eye to eye, and that’s fine.
But that mentality taught me a ton in my own life, with my own kids and family, about remembering what is important and making sure that they all know how important they are on a daily basis. Loyalty, when times are good and times are bad, is something my father instilled in me that is a principle of who I am.
